Simple and practical survival bases you can build early in the game. These builds use common materials and can be completed relatively quickly to give you a safe home base.
More ambitious survival projects for established players. These builds offer advanced features like multi-level layouts, integrated farms, and defensive structures.

Location matters. Build near essential resources like water, wood, and a cave entrance. Being close to a village is also helpful for early-game trading. Avoid building too close to dark ravines or spawner dungeons.
Prioritize safety over style. Your first survival base should focus on keeping mobs out. Make sure every entrance has a door or fence gate, light up the interior and surrounding area, and consider building a perimeter wall early on.
Include essential stations. Every good survival base needs a crafting table, furnace, bed, and storage chests at minimum. As you progress, add an enchanting table, anvil, brewing stand, and smithing table.
Plan for expansion. Leave room to grow. Your starter base will eventually need farms, animal pens, a smelting room, and an enchanting area. Building with expansion in mind saves you from tearing down walls later.
Build a food source early. Set up a small wheat or potato farm inside or next to your base as soon as possible. A reliable food supply is critical for surviving and exploring the world around you.
